Fairmount is a neighborhood in southeastern Eugene. It is primarily a residential neighborhood and has a population of 2,899 which represents 1.8% of the population of the Eugene area. There are over 1,200 households in this neighborhood, with the greatest percentages of residents within the 20-24 and 50-54 year old age groups. Because of its close proximity to the University and to Lane Community College, it is a popular area for student housing. It is a beautiful area and residents of Fairmount can conveniently enjoy the rhododendron gardens of Hendricks park, or play a round of golf at Laurelwood Golf Course. The northern edge of this neighborhood is defined by the Willamette River, and the bike path that runs along the river offers a many beautiful views, and easy access to other areas of town.
Fairmount is part of the 4j school district and most students attend South Eugene High School. Public transportation in this area is centered around the University bus station which connects to many other areas of town.
