The University of Oregon campus neighborhood is one of the most exciting areas of town. Academic and residential complexes for the University are located in this neighborhood, but there are also restaurants, bars, stores and University facilities used by the public such as Mac Court and Hayward Field. Hayward Field is one of the country's premiere track and field facilities, and has been used numerous times for the Olympic trials, including the trials for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Mac Court is a local historical landmark, and is the home of the University of Oregon basketball teams. It is one of the oldest active college basketball arenas in the country, though the construction of a new arena is currently being planed. This neighborhood is home to a number of other historical sites and buildings such as Pioneer Cemetery, and Deady and Villard Halls.
Shopping and dining establishments are located on or near E. 13th, easily accessible to both students and the greater community. And for those looking for a pint after the game, there are numerous pubs and bars for all the Duck fans out there. Furthermore, downtown Eugene is only a few blocks from the campus neighborhood. The University of Oregon bus station connects to almost every other part of town, and the bike path is only a few blocks from the University.
