The South University Neighborhood is located in southeastern Eugene. It is bordered to the north by the University, to the south by southeast Eugene, to the east by Fairmount and to the west by Friendly Area. This is primarily a residential area and has some of the most beautiful residences in Eugene, and is also a popular neighborhood for student housing. The South University neighborhood is home to several parks including the city's oldest, Hendricks Park. Hendricks Park is well known for it's Rhododendron Garden, and views of Eugene. Also in this neighborhood is University Park in which there is a playground, basketball courts and a baseball diamond. The South University neighborhood is also close to some of the recreational areas outside of Eugene including Spencer's Butte and Ridgeline Park. The population of the South University area is 3,741, representing 2.3% of the population of Eugene. This neighborhood is close to the university, making it very convenient to access all the amenities made available by the University.
The South University neighborhood is part of the 4j school district and is serviced by Spencer Butte and Roosevelt Middle Schools and South Eugene High School. Public transportation is centered at the Amazon bus station.
