Whiteaker is a neighborhood in central Eugene. It is north of the Jefferson neighborhood and downtown, south of Cal Young and River Road and east of the West Eugene Community Organization. It has a population of 4,454 representing 2.8% of the population of the Eugene area. Whiteaker is one of the youngest neighborhoods in Eugene. As one of the most central areas of Eugene, getting to other parts of town from Whiteaker is easy. The Washington Jefferson Street Bridge makes it easy to get to areas in eastern Eugene and Springfield, and the area is only a short drive from most of west Eugene. Furthermore the bike path runs along the northern edge of this neighborhood, and there are several city parks and community gardens. Owen Rose Garden is one of the most beautiful parks in Eugene and is right in the center of the Whiteaker neighborhood. It is primarily a residential and commercial area, with shopping and dining centered around 6th and 7th avenue. Whiteaker is part of the 4j school district.
