The West University neighborhood, or the “WUN”, is a residential area located in central Eugene. West University is bordered by downtown Eugene on the north, and the University of Oregon to the east and South Eugene High School on the south. This area is popular among students, resulting in many rental properties. The remaining properties are single family residences. Residents of the West University area live within close proximity to many parts of Eugene. Downtown, and all it has to offer, is close enough to access on bike or by foot. The beautiful new public library is located in this area and all of the University's public facilities including the Knight Library, the main bus station, and the university bus station are all only a few blocks from the West University neighborhood. The old hospital, which now serves as a emergency treatment center, is located in the northern side of West University.
The population of the West University neighborhood is 5,500, making up 3.4% of the population of the Eugene area. Per capita income in this area is just over $8,000, probably because of the high concentration of students. There are four public parks in the West University are, and the bike path is only a short distance away. West University is part of the 4j school district, and most students attend Roosevelt Middle School and South Eugene High School.
